Founder of Salvage + Spruce, Nicola Mellen studied Set Design at Central Saint Martins after attending Millfield in Somerset. With over 20 years of creative experience, she has built a career shaped by a fascination with how interiors influence mood, atmosphere, and daily life.
Half South African, Nicola spent ten years living there in her twenties, an experience that continues to inform her work through a love of texture, colour, craftsmanship, and layered design.
Her approach is intuitive and expressive, focusing on colour, pattern, furniture, and thoughtful spatial design. After stepping back from her career to raise her family, she returned with a renewed focus on accessible, inspiring interior support.
Sustainability sits at the heart of her practice, with a strong emphasis on restoring and reimagining existing pieces wherever possible.
Alongside Salvage + Spruce, Nicola is a proud Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® stockist, with products available in Bruton and Frome, offering expert colour guidance and materials for furniture and decorative projects.
