MY DESIGN JOURNEY
Every home has potential. Sometimes it just takes a fresh pair of eyes to see it.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by choices, unsure where to begin or simply looking for someone to help bring your ideas together, I'm here to guide you through the process with creativity, confidence and care. Together, we'll uncover your home's potential and create spaces that feel beautiful, functional and a true reflection of you.
Hello, I'm Nicola.
I've always believed that our homes have the power to change how we feel.
The best interiors aren't the most expensive or the most perfectly styled. They're the ones that tell your story, spark emotion and make you feel completely at home the moment you walk through the door.
That's why I created Salvage + Spruce.
After studying Set Design at Central Saint Martins, I spent more than twenty five years working creatively, always fascinated by how colour, texture, light and furniture shape the way we experience a space. My South African heritage, and the ten years I spent living there in my twenties, nurtured a love of craftsmanship, natural materials and beautifully layered interiors that continue to inspire my work today.
Like many women, my career paused while I raised my family. Returning to interiors gave me the opportunity to build the business I'd always imagined—one that's approachable, collaborative and rooted in real life.
I know that creating a home you love can feel overwhelming. There are endless decisions, countless opinions and more inspiration than ever before. My role isn't to tell you what your home should look like—it's to help you discover what feels right for you.
I believe the most beautiful homes evolve over time. They don't come from following trends or buying everything new. They grow through collecting pieces you love, mixing old with new, embracing colour with confidence and allowing your home to reflect your life, your memories and your personality.
Some of my favourite interiors are a little unexpected. They mix treasured antiques with contemporary furniture, celebrate craftsmanship, embrace imperfections and are filled with objects that have meaning. Those layers are what give a home warmth, depth and soul.
Sustainability sits at the heart of everything I do. I love restoring forgotten furniture, sourcing vintage finds and helping clients see the beauty in what they already own. Often, the most characterful pieces are the ones waiting to be rediscovered.
Whether we're refreshing a single room or transforming an entire home, I begin by listening. I want to understand how you live, what inspires you and how you want your home to make you feel. Together, we'll create spaces that are beautiful, practical and unmistakably yours.
Alongside my interior design work, I'm also a proud Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® stockist in Bruton and Frome, offering expert colour advice, decorative paint products and creative workshops that inspire others to transform their own homes with confidence.
For me, good design has never been about perfection.
It's about creating homes with heart.
Homes that feel collected rather than decorated.
Homes that tell your story.
Because the most memorable interiors aren't copies of someone else's.
They're a reflection of you.
"The best homes aren't designed overnight. They're collected, layered and loved."
